Homo homini lupus (est)

The most recent project of Vanessa de Gruijter at the EKWC relies on observation of the animal kingdom. The most important aspect is how humans project their psychological desires on animals in order to reflect about the self. It is not a scientific approach but rather anthropomorphism. Here is a reflection on the imaginary, on the innocence and cruelty of humans.

De Gruijter’s objects are evocative portraits, deliberately created to express this humanization of the animal world.

These works are no more than a self-criticism and an exploration of the imaginary inner world.
